Update 05: The Countdown (Part 1)

I had planned to post this last Aug. 7, to mark the day when it'll be exactly four months before Dong and I get married. But I didn't have the time until tonight. So I'm writing this 119 sleeps before our Big Day. I guess 119 is as good a number as any.

And so 119 days before the wedding, here's where we're at in our wedding preparations:

Organizing Online
I'm using Trello, a tasks management website, to coordinate with our "manpower friends" about wedding details and tasks. I'm not tech-savvy, but when Kayanne introduced me to Trello, I was won over. Imagine an electronic bulletin board with task cards that can easily be categorized and updated and moved around (to show priority or progress of task). That's easily accessed through the Internet. And which is absolutely for FREE! The main draw for me is the horizontal interface. I can put details/tasks of equal priority or similar category side by side, making getting back to them easier, unlike if I post in an FB group (which would entail scrolling down and down some more to look for an earlier post). Check out www.trello.com to know more about what I'm talking about.

Rewording the RSVP
Most Pinoys don't subscribe to the RSVP practice - this is an observation I've encountered more than once while reading up on "wedding literature". I think only a few of my guests would be an exception. And so I decided that I'll do more than spell out the French words for RSVP: Respondez sil vous plait. My guests aren't French after all. I decided, I'll put my writing major to good use and just write the texts of my invitation. That way, I could also make special requests like:

"We’d be sad to see any empty seats during our wedding.
And we’d be embarrassed if we have more guests than seats!
Please help us make sure we have enough seats for all our guests.
Kindly text us whether or not you can attend our wedding."
Because I wouldn't want us to pay our caterer for empty seats!

"If you are coming, please do celebrate with us
from the first notes of the wedding processional
to the last toast of the wedding reception.
We’ve taken great care in preparing our wedding program;
our hope is to enjoy it with loved ones like you!"
Because it really saddens me when I see guests already leaving when the program is just starting.

Ilia in the Invites
Still on the invitations: While I was thinking of how I'd like our invitations to look like, I had an inspired thought: why not ask Ilia if she had existing artwork featuring tropical flowers (because she sketches). But she didn't have any, I found out, BUT she was willing to make one for me. And she did, and it was beautiful.

What made this even more beautiful was that Ilia drew the flowers and leaves individually so she she could manipulate it any way she (or I) wants. Effort!!!

I'm really happy with the invites artwork. I started out just looking for a way to help simplify the making of the invites for KayAnne, our official wedding graphics artist; I ended up with Ilia's touch in one of our major wedding details - and with a beautiful touch at that. Thanks Ilia!!

Relying on RTW
I've always wanted my MOH and bridesmaids and flower girls to wear a dress that they can wear again in a non-wedding event. The idea of paying for a dress that somebody would wear just once is just so wasteful! So, initially, we thought of just buying fabrics for the girls and letting them coordinate with their trusted mananahi for the dress design of their choice. This was a good idea because it'll help Dong and I save on costs as well. But more recently, we decided to just go RTW. This way, we can really shop from stores that they (and I) actually go to for pretty dresses. Because ours is a morning/informal wedding, short dresses without the usual bridesmaid-dress-fanfare are easily justifiable. Check out this "bridesmaid" dress I got on sale at Mango:

This one is from Maldita in Glorietta:

Am I scared that the dresses won't have a uniform shade of green, the shade that I want? Not anymore. Here's why:
