Dear Darlings #002

Tatay made me extra happy today.

This morning, before he drove me to school, he led Machete and Otep to the back of the house to feed them. As usual, he talked to them like they were actual people who would talk back to him. When we were in the car, he even told me how Wynwyn had sniffed at the two dogs as if to say, "Aba, bakit kayo may almusal?!)

He hurriedly divided the food between the dogs and ran to the side gate holding the kaldero while the two were still busy eating. The picture he made as he ran reminded me of the Michelin mascot-like figure which becomes the kalaban in Bioman, and gave me a glimpse of what Badong would look like as a toddler running away after doing some mischief.

Tatay wanted to get the car out of the house while the dogs were still eating so they couldn't sneak out the open gate. "E bakit di nalang natin isara yung side gate," I asked, referring to the smaller gate which could close off the back and side of the house. Tatay's reply? "Oo nga no!"

Meanwhile, tonight, he readily washed the dishes when I asked him to. There's something you have to know about Tatay: he hates washing the dishes. Abhors it. Detests it. But tonight, like on other nights when I'm too exhausted to fulfill my wifely duties, he washed the dishes. Happily.

So Badang, date a guy who treats you no less than how Tatay treats your mother. Badongs... Guys are not exempted from house chores in our family, understand?
